Pigeon Lake Aug long weekend

Well, we have recovered from our May long weekend of horrible luck. We sold the old boat we had, that got stuck on the beach for 3 days, with many attemps in that freezing water to get it to the boat launch. We've bought a new boat and are ready to head back up there. Newer and much more dependable!

I have reserved a campsite, couldn't get in to Zeiner again so we will be at the Pigeon Lake park. Anyone else have plans of heading up there for the Aug long weekend?

Any one been out on the NSR lately? I was out last monday and she is fishing very well my son caught his first fish a walleye. I love this time of year it's some of the best fishing of the season. I managed a pike on the fly rod and a half dozen walleye, in a couple weeks the fish are going to come off the spawn and be very hungry and then it will be nuts! I encourage every one to get out on the river soon!

                                                                 Cheers

So my trip down the Bow last weekend had to be canceled do to runoff/ snow. we did a 180 degree flip on the trip and took my lund up to Fawcett lake with two other guys. first time up there and i tell you it wont be my last. we fished the East end and found a spot that was unflipping real. by the end of the day we had landed 400+ jacks between the three of us. you know it is great fishing when you stop getting exited about triple headers. the record was 19 cast with 18 fish in the boat. sunday ...

The fishing was great. we fished for 4hrs, 3 guys, 60+ small hammers handles. We did land three nice ones from ones spot, 32" 37" and mine was 38".

When i was removing my hook from this hog, we opened his mouth and there was a good size tail sticking ...

I'm a real "map phenatic", and I'm looking for a book with maps ect on the Bow river, one with other rivers in AB would be great. I'm a spincaster, so just pulling over and wading with the family won't really work with kids. I've been known to just climb in and fish while in the water, but that doesn't help with kids. Possible listing where pools etc would be very helpful. Is there such a book out there?

The "itch" to go fishing just won't go away..lol so the family and I are going to try the Bow this weekend. Just to be able to get out for a little while will be great.

Maybe next year will have to return to ice fishing but will have to buy all the stuff again as I haven't ice fished in a long time! Could always make a rod out of a cut down broom handle like my Dad did for us kids years ago

There was a few others out, but didn't hear of anyone catching any fish. I spent about a hour picking up garbage as I watched my motionless rod. I can not beleive how much garbage I picked up with in a hundered feet of a garbage can. I'm not talking about S**t that came down the river, but the garbage left behind by so called fishermen.
