Pigeon Lake

Post by fishing_flower on Wed 15 Apr 2009, 7:57 am

Have only ever been to Pigeon once before, and it was only camping. Enjoyed the countryside. Seems the fishing is good. Does anyone think we will have open water for May long weekend? I hear the ice is pretty thick up there.

Well with any luck the ice should be off , but not a 100 % sure . I know last year the day before everyone was out to Pigeon for may long , there was still ice . But it had melted just got to be extremely careful in early season with the ice just coming off . As hitting a chunk of ice coming across a lake wouldn't be a good thing.

I was at pigeon on monday and there is still lots of ice. I guess it all depends on the weather!

Here's hoping for lots of nice weather! sunny Are there other campgrounds there besides the provincial park? Just in case I can't get a reservation there. Driving from Calgary, so first come first serve too risky of not having a campsite.
Thxs.

There two big provincial parks. If you get to Zeiner early enough you'll get a site. Then its a short drive to the actual boat launch at the other provincial park. Also check out this website , its full of goodies.

Zeiner is the one we are hoping to get a reservation at. Around Calgary if you don't have a reservation you may as well camp at Wally world, you won't get a site. No Trying to reserve as much ahead of time as we can. Don't want to drive for 3 hours and not have a campsite.
